What We Do

Chimney Masonry Repair

We handle the brick, stone and mortar side of your chimney, from a few open joints to a full rebuild above the roofline, with the same matched mortars we use for tuckpointing and masonry repair on walls.

Chimney Repointing

Up top, chimney mortar takes weather from every side and fails first. We rake out the open joints and repoint with a matched mortar so the stack stays tight.

Brick & Stone Replacement

Spalled, cracked or loose chimney bricks get replaced with matching units, so the stack looks right and stops dropping pieces on the roof.

Crown Repair & Rebuilds

The crown is your chimney’s roof. We seal hairline cracks or rebuild a failed crown with a proper slope and overhang so rain runs off.

Chimney Caps

A cap keeps rain, animals and debris out of the flue. We install new caps and reset loose ones.

Partial & Full Rebuilds

When a stack is loose or leaning, we take it down to sound brick and rebuild it, from the roofline up or just the top courses.

Leaks at the Roofline

Many chimney leaks are the flashing, not the brick. We repoint and reseal the joints the flashing is set into, and we’ll tell you straight if the flashing itself needs a roofer.

Signs Your Chimney Needs Repair

Chimney damage is hard to see from the ground until it’s serious. If you spot any of these, get it looked at before winter.

Chimney Repair FAQ

Straight answers about chimney repair, from crowns and caps to full rebuilds.

How much does chimney repair cost?

Plan on about $500–$2,500 for a crown repair or spot repointing, and roughly $3,000–$7,500 to rebuild a typical stack from the roofline up. Tall, double-flue or hard-to-reach chimneys run more. You’ll get ours as a free written quote.

Do I need a chimney repair or a full rebuild?

Repair, if the brick and mortar are mostly sound: repointing and a crown repair handle most chimneys. If the stack is leaning, loose through several courses or badly spalled, a partial or full rebuild is the safer, longer-lasting fix, and we’ll show you why.

What is a chimney crown and why does it matter?

It’s the concrete cap on top of the stack, and it matters because it’s the chimney’s roof. A good crown slopes and overhangs so rain runs off and drips clear of the brick. Once it cracks, water goes straight down into the masonry, so crown repair is one of the best-value fixes on any chimney.

Why is my chimney leaking?

Usually one of three things: a cracked crown, open mortar joints or failed flashing where the chimney meets the roof. A missing cap lets rain straight down the flue too. We find which one it is before we quote, and if the metal flashing itself has failed, we’ll tell you straight that it’s a roofer’s job.

Do you sweep chimneys or install liners?

No. We handle the masonry: brick, stone, mortar, crowns, caps and rebuilds. For sweeping, liners or a wood-stove inspection, you want a chimney sweep with WETT certification, and we’re glad to point you to one.

When is the best time to repair a chimney?

Spring through fall, when mortar can cure properly. It’s worth fixing open joints and a cracked crown before winter, because water that soaks in expands with every hard frost and pries the damage wider. We inspect year-round.

Is a leaning chimney dangerous?

Yes, it can be, so don’t sit on it. A stack that’s out of plumb above the roofline usually has failed mortar and needs rebuilding before it starts dropping bricks. A lean that starts lower down can point to a footing problem, and that’s an engineer’s call before it’s ours.
