Tuckpointing & Repointing in Paris, Brantford & SW Ontario
When the mortar between your bricks turns powdery, cracks or drops out, water gets in and the wall loses its grip. We rake out the failed joints and refill them with mortar matched to your home — back to solid, weather-tight and tidy.
Repointing That Restores Strength and Curb Appeal
Failing mortar is the most common — and most fixable — masonry problem we see across Paris and Brantford. Here’s how we put it right.
Repointing Failed Joints
We rake out crumbling, cracked or missing mortar to a sound depth and refill the joints solid, so the wall sheds water instead of soaking it up.
Colour & Texture Matching
New mortar is mixed and tooled to match the colour, width and finish of your original joints, so the repair blends in instead of standing out as a patch.
Lime vs. Cement Mortar
On older and heritage homes we use breathable, softer lime-based mixes rather than hard modern cement that can crack the brick. The right mortar for the right wall.
Spot or Full Repointing
Whether it’s a few failing joints on one elevation or a whole wall that’s overdue, we scope it honestly and only repoint what actually needs it.
Brick & Stone Joints
We repoint brick, natural stone and fieldstone — including foundations, parapets and garden walls.
Weather-Tight Finish
Properly struck joints keep rain, snow and winter weather out of your wall, which is what stops the small problems from turning into rebuilds.
Signs You Need Tuckpointing

Tuckpointing & Repointing FAQ
Quick answers about mortar joint repair in Paris, Brantford and across SW Ontario.
What’s the difference between tuckpointing and repointing?
In everyday use they mean the same job — removing failed mortar and refilling the joints. Strictly, repointing is the repair itself, and traditional tuckpointing adds a fine contrasting line for a crisp finish. We’ll match whatever your wall needs and looks best with.
How much does tuckpointing cost?
It depends on how much wall needs repointing and how easy it is to reach. A few joints on a ground-floor elevation is far less than a full two-storey wall. Every quote is free and itemized in writing. Call (519) 802-2138 for a no-obligation look.
How long does repointing last?
Done properly with the right mortar, repointing commonly lasts 25 years or more — often longer than the joints it replaced, because we match the mortar to your brick instead of using a one-size-fits-all mix.
Will the new mortar match my existing wall?
That’s the whole point. We colour- and texture-match the mortar and tool the joints to match the originals, so the repair reads as part of the wall, not a patch.
Do you use lime mortar on older homes?
Yes. Century brick and stone homes need a softer, breathable lime-based mortar — hard modern cement can trap moisture and crack the brick. We choose the mix to suit the masonry.
What’s the best time of year for tuckpointing in Ontario?
Spring through fall is ideal, since mortar cures best in milder temperatures. We assess year-round, and getting failing joints repointed before winter really keeps the damage from spreading.

It was such a game changer when we met Dave and his team to help us out. Thank you Dave and the Team for hard work I would recommend this to whoever would need help. Just a phone call away makes your life easier.
Dave did a great job of waterproofing our basement. Not only did he fix the problem but he also gave valuable advice. For someone like myself who knows nothing about foundation and concrete walls of homes Dave was very knowledgeable and fixed the problem with a reasonable price.
We had Dave and his crew waterproof the one side of our foundation. They were polite, efficient, reliable and very knowledgeable. I recommend On Point for all your masonry repairs.
